Hi I'm Hannah. I've always loved food (eating it, cooking it, daydreaming about eating or cooking it...) and in 2024 I took the leap to start my own business!

One of the things I love most about cooking & baking is being guided by the seasons. I get so excited seeing new produce in the greengrocers - rhubarb in February, asparagus in April, tomatoes & peaches through summer and kale, squash & sprouts in the colder months. Using ingredients when they're at their best has the obvious benefit of food tasting better, but it also makes eating more interesting!

This isn't to say that at Lucky Squirrel Kitchen we only offer plant based, or even all vegetarian menus (though we can do both!) but the focus is always on seasonal, fresh and, of course, delicious food.

What kind of food does Lucky Squirrel Kitchen offer?

We love offering a variety of dishes, using fresh, colourful produce and high quality ingredients. We always draw inspiration from seasonal ingredients and flavours, so there isn’t a ‘set’ menu to choose from, but we do have some menu ideas so you can get a flavour of the kind of food we offer.

As standard all food for events is delivered & presented in recyclable or compostable packaging. We can provide eco-friendly cutlery, plates & napkins - please let us know if these are needed, to avoid waste. We can also present food on crockery which can be hired for an extra fee - please get in touch to discuss your needs.

How much notice is needed to book catering?

As a small business, we ask for as much notice as possible in booking catering services but at least 1 week in advance.

Do you take deposits? When are payments required & where to?

Bookings for up to 50 people

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the estimated final amount is required to be paid to secure a booking. If a booking is made more than 2 months in advance, an invoice for the deposit will be sent at the point of 2 months prior to the event date. If a booking is made for a date within 2 months, an invoice for the deposit will be sent at the point of the booking enquiry. The deposit is due to be paid to Lucky Squirrel Kitchen by bank transfer within 7 days - details will be shared on the invoice. The final amount invoice will be issued 14 days before the date of the event, to be paid by bank transfer within 7 days. We are aware that with certain events, such as retreats, there may be people who book on with short notice - please keep us updated if numbers increase after the final invoice date, so this can be invoiced separately.

Do you deliver? Is there a cost?

Delivery is included for free within Leeds. Outside of Leeds there will be a small delivery fee which will depend on mileage.

Do you have a cancellation policy? What if there are changes to the event?

All deposits are non-refundable. If a booking is cancelled on the day before or day of the event we will be unable to refund any of the final payment.

Menus will be finalised 14 days before the event, based on the dietary requirements and number of attendees stated by the customer at this point. If there are changes to attendees (e.g. number or specific dietary requirements) within 14 days of the event, we will do our best to cater for this change but cannot guarantee that a full comparable menu will be able to be offered.

Have you had a food safety inspection?

Lucky Squirrel Kitchen is registered as a food business with Leeds City Council and is awaiting a food safety inspection (this can be verified on the Food Standards Agency website) - there are currently significant waiting times for inspections in Leeds. We hold a Level 2 Food Safety hygiene certificate & have completed further government recommended allergen awareness training. We follow strict cleaning schedules & follow all recommendations as set out in the Safer Food, Better Business food safety management system.

Can you cater for dietary requirements & allergies?

We will always aim to cater for specific dietary needs. We can offer full vegetarian & vegan menus. Please notify of any known allergies at the time of booking or as further guests book on to events. Care & attention is always taken to avoid cross-contamination, however all cooking is done in a home kitchen where allergens such as nuts, eggs, milk, soya & gluten are stored and used. We therefore do not claim to be an allergen free kitchen and cannot guarantee suitability for those with allergies, severe intolerances or Coeliac disease.

All food for events is clearly labelled with the dish name & any common allergens. These are the 14 most common allergens - namely cereals containing gluten, milk, eggs, sesame, soya, peanuts, nuts, sulphur dioxide/sulphites, mustard, lupin, celery, fish, crustaceans and molluscs.

All bakes made to order or weekly specials, as listed on instagram, list allergens so this can be seen at the time of ordering. When the order is packed, there will be a sticker clearly marked with the allergens present.
